About The Scottish Bag Co.
The Scottish Bag Company was born in 2014 at a time in my life where after having my two children, I was starting to get a little more time to think about more than playdates, an endless stream of amusements and when the next nap might be happening!
I have dabbled in crafting all my life but with both children now in school and a little free time on my hands I thought if I didn’t indulge my love of sewing now, I might not get the chance again for the foreseeable future. Having always had a love for bags and knowing that I could never have too many, I felt this might be a good starting place. After making a couple of simple oilcloth totes for family members and feeling a real sense of achievement, I quickly became hooked and The Scottish Bag Company was born.
After starting out using Oilcloth as the exterior for most of my bags, I then discovered wool and subsequently Harris tweed and now make the majority of my bags in Harris tweed with good quality cotton linings and accents of faux leather/genuine leather. I try to source as many of my materials from within (and preferably manufactured in) the UK and each bag is made individually by myself, often to my customers specifications.
In addition to bags, I also now make a range of accessories including toiletry bags, scarves, hip-flasks and also the very popular gin-lamps and lampshades which make beautiful and unique presents as well as tasteful bedside lamps and ceiling pendants.
I hope you enjoy browsing and purchasing as much as I enjoy creating these pieces: We always like to hear what our customers think so please let us know what you love and what you would like to see.
